The list includes 16 public holidays, comprising 3 national holidays and 13 festival holidays. Key Points to Note

  • Substitute Holidays: No substitute holiday will be granted if a festival holiday falls on a weekly off or another non-working day.
  • Regional Variations: Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committees in different states can adjust the holiday dates based on local festivals and moon sightings.
  • Diwali Holiday: In some states, Diwali is celebrated a day in advance as “Naraka Chaturdasi.” Central Government offices in those states may observe the holiday accordingly.
  • Bank Holidays: Banks and financial institutions will follow the holiday list issued by the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance.
