NTSE Scholarship – Financial Aid for Meritorious Students

The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a scholarship program conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to identify and support talented students at the secondary level. The scholarship provides financial aid to students pursuing higher education in any field of study.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a Class 10 student studying in a recognized school in India.
  • Students enrolled in Open Schooling (NIOS) are also eligible, provided they are below 18 years of age.
  • Must qualify in both Stage 1 (State Level) and Stage 2 (National Level) of the NTSE exam.

Scholarship Benefits

  • ₹1,250 per month for Classes 11 and 12.
  • ₹2,000 per month for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
  • Financial assistance is available for Ph.D. studies under UGC norms.
  • Awardees get preference in admissions, internships, and job opportunities.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the NCERT Official Portal.
  2. Download the NTSE application form (for state-level exam).
  3. Fill in the required details and attach the necessary documents:
    • Class 9 Mark Sheet
    • Caste Certificate (if applicable)
    • Disability Certificate (if applicable)
    • Recent Passport-sized Photograph
  4. Submit the form to your respective State/UT Liaison Officer before the deadline.

Selection Process

  • Stage 1: Conducted by State/UT education departments.
  • Stage 2: Conducted by NCERT at the national level.
  • Final selection is based on the combined scores of both stages.

State-wise Quota Distribution

  • The number of students selected from each state depends on the quota assigned by NCERT.
  • The final selection list is published on the NCERT website.
